Course Structure-MBA(MS)

Two years - Full Time
The programme has been organized into two years - first year and second year, each comprising of two semesters. A student has to pass 33 Courses each carrying 100 marks (3 credits or about 40 hours of classroom contact).

In each semester a student is required to do 8 Core and/or Elective Courses including 1 Core Seminar (CS) Course and 1 Core Workshop (CW) Course. In addition to these 8 Courses, the participants will be free to take one more non-mandatory non-credit course offered by any Guest Faculty or Regular Faculty members in each semester on the requests of the students duly approved by the Programme Administration. The participant, attending at least 75% of the scheduled sessions of a non-credit course, will receive a non-evaluative attendance certificate from the concerned faculty.

Total Number of Electives to be taken by a student is 10 (Ten) in 2 Semesters.

The Electives, offered in the 2nd year, are of two categories:
Functional Area Specialization electives (FE) and
Sector Specialization Electives (SE).
All the Sector specialization electives are to be offered as Seminar Courses. Semester III and Semester IV taken together, a student is required to take at least 2 electives from any of the Four Functional Area Specialization Courses and at least 5 elective from any of the Five Sector Specialization Courses. Within the limit of feasibility of Programme administration, all combination of Electives will be permissible.

In each semester, a student is required to take a Core Seminar (CS) Course. Therefore, there will be 4 Core Seminar Courses in 2 years. The Seminar Courses will be conducted by multiple faculty members (including Guest Faculty) and co-ordinated by Seminar In-Charge. These Courses will require the student to submit at least two written Term Papers (including case study).

Similarly, in each semester, a student is required to take a Core Workshop (CW) Course. Workshop courses are essentially application-oriented intense small-group work focused more on skill development of the participants. There will be 4 Workshop Courses in 2 years. Workshop Courses will be conducted by multiple faculty members (including Guest Faculty) and co-ordinated by the Workshop in-Charge.

In place of one final project, 4 Core Seminar Courses are being introduced to allow students to do many live projects.
